Steps to healthy Progress in Character if added with all Dilligence to your
Faith (2 Peter 1-12) Derek Prince
1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to
them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness
of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ: 2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the
knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, 3 According as his divine power hath
given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the
knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises:
that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the
corruption that is in the world through lust. 5 And beside this, giving all diligence,
add to your faith virtue;
and to virtue knowledge;
6 And to knowledge temperance;
and to temperance patience;
and to patience godliness;
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness;
and to brotherly kindness charity
(Agape, divine Love)
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye
shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus
Christ. 9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar
off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give
diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things,
ye shall never fall: 11 For so an entrance shall be ministered
unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour
Jesus Christ. 12 Wherefore I will not be negligent to
put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be
established in the present truth.

30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the
grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven,
shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 31 Therefore take no thought,
saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we
be clothed?32 (For after all these things do
the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all
these things. 33 But seek ye
first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall
be added unto you.
34 Take therefore no thought for
the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.
Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof (Mat. 6:30-34)
Step 1: Add to your Faith VERTUE (GOODNESS, EXCELLENCE)
Progress to Perfection (4) – Derek Prince
Today,
Derek begins looking at the seven successive steps outlined by the apostle
Peter that can take us from our starting point of faith to our goal of
perfection. It’s good he breaks it down for us and we aren’t required to take
one vast leap!

Finishing this week’s study,
Derek reveals four results of bearing fruit in our lives. First, we will get
our prayers answered; second, the Father is glorified thus proving we are
Jesus’ disciples; third, we remain in God’s love and security; and fourth
there is double joy—Jesus’ joy in us and our own joy in our relationship with
Him.

Process of Pruning

One major way of taking care of
vines is by pruning. In looking at this process of pruning, Derek emphasizes
that the vines that are bearing fruit are the ones that are cut back. This is
so they will produce more and better fruit. Pruning in a Christian’s life is
not an indication of wrongdoing or punishment. In fact, it shows that God
knows how to bring out the best in them.
Step 2: KNOWLEDGE (OF GOD THROUGH HIS WORD)
Progress to Perfection (5) Knowledge – Derek Prince
Step 3: TEMPERANCE (SELF-CONTROL)

Communicating a
Positive Attitude
When you are in the midst of people who are
tired and discouraged and defeated, you are there to lift them up. This is
Derek’s commentary on how our attitude as Christians should be wherever we
go. We are to be encouragers, not discouragers. See the good and God’s
ability in every situation
Step 4: PATIENCE (ENDURANCE);
Progress
to Perfection - Endurance (4) Steps to Achieving Endurance
It takes endurance to walk safely
through difficult times—and through times of ease. Bottom line: endurance is
a vital ingredient of success. But it is not enough to know we need
endurance, we must also understand the “Steps to Achieving Endurance.” Listen
to find out more…

Endurance (5) Further Steps to Achieving
Endurance
Endurance, however, provides us with
many benefits—eternal benefits. In fact, Jesus tells us “he who endures to
the end shall be saved.” Listen to discover two more keys to achieving
endurance so you can receive the reward God wants to give you.

Step 6: BROTHERLY KINDNESS;
Step 7: CHARITY (DEVINE LOVE, AGAPE)
Love of God, The (4)
Different Kinds of Love
In
today’s session, Derek looks at four different words for love, how they are
used in Scripture, and how they differ from one another. This understanding
is important so that we will know what is meant when Scripture talks about
the love of God. What is this picture of agape love demonstrated in Christ
dying for us?
Agape Love (5)
Derek’s study today goes into more
detail regarding agape love. Agape love is self-giving, it goes the second
mile, it is unconditional, and it is perfectly demonstrated in Jesus.
Finally, we must see that love proceeds out of faith. The death of Christ
would accomplish God’s purposes, based on both God’s faith and Christ’s
faith.

Psalm 133
133 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell
together in unity! 2 It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down
upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his
garments; 3 As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the
mountains of Zion: for there
the Lord commanded
the blessing, even life
for evermore.
